Fotoarchív mesta New York

Viac ako 870 tisíc zo zbierky 2,2 milóna fotografií zverejnil archiv mesta New York na svojej stránke. Fotografie zachytávajú mesto New York a rôzne pohľady naň od prístavov cez mosty až po šokujúce gangsterské popravy od roku 1800 až po súšastnosť.

Projekt a digitalizácia záberov sa pripravovala viac ako štyri roky. Fotografie boli oficiálne sprístupnené v utorok 24.4.12 neoficiálne však už boli dostupné viac ako 2 týždne. Fotografie ste do teraz mohli vidieť len osobnou návštevou archívu mesta New York a ručním prehrabávaním sa medzi nimi.

Veľkú časť zbierky tvoria fotografie New Yorskej polície zaznamanených na sklenených doskách. V archíve sa nachádza aj viac ako 800 tisíc fotografií ktoré vznikli v období medzi rokom 1980 a 1985 v projekte radnice, fotografovania všetkych ulíc a budov v meste.

V najbližšej dobe archív mesta plánuje zdigitalizovať viac ako 700 tisíc fotografií každej budovy v meste medzi rokmi 1939 a 1941. Teraz si môžete prezrieť fotografie online aj Vy v pohodlí domova bez potreby lietať do New Yorku.
